Fabric Width Reference Guide
Use this chart to plan yardage with the correct fabric width. Quilting cotton is typically 42 to 44 inches wide, but specialty fabrics, backing, and apparel fabrics come in different widths.

Why Fabric Width Matters
Wider fabric requires fewer panels for quilt backing and can reduce yardage needs. Narrower fabric may need more yardage for the same project. Always check the bolt label or product description for the exact width before calculating yardage.
